Labor day 3 years ago, the Hubby and I were at a family BBQ. My Grandparents were visiting from Florida so most of our family came.

There was lots of food, conversation and games. We all ate, drank and had a blast.

Little T, the first and only Great Grandchild at that time, had just turned 1 and just started walking. He was very unsteadily toddling around the yard, running in between games and sometimes laughing so hard he would fall.

The Hubby and I were almost at a year of marriage and were originally going to start TTC at the year mark, but had discussed it a few months prior and decided to wait till after they new year. (can't remember our reasoning) Since the talk, I stopped all the little joking nagging I was doing asking when we were going to have a baby. We had our plan and even though I wanted to try now, we were going to spend the extra time together happily married.

I remember watching the Hubby watching Little T run around. Little T would run up to him and others, laugh and then run away wanting to be chased.

One of the times I took a break from the party and went inside to use the bathroom I got a text. It was from the Hubby. It was a short 2 words and I was confused.

"I'm ready"

"Ready for what?" I responded.

"Ready to have a baby."

I was shocked.  The Hubby is a big planner. Everything needs to be planned and in order for him.The plan was to wait till after they new year and he was throwing the plan completely out the window.

I came back out and couldn't stop smiling, but tried to hide it. It was like we had a little secret. We were going to have a baby.

I remember how exciting it was then. How naive we were. Even though I knew there might be some issues with my cycle we still thought it would just happen. We would be next. Little T would have a little cousin soon and then there would be more after us and they would all be close like all 14 of us cousins were.

3 years later and Little T has 2 little brothers and 4 little cousins and now will have 2 more little cousins in April! I see them all play together at family parties and I can't wait till my little ones are in the mix. It reminds me of all the fun times my cousins and I had together. I can't wait to see them all grow up together and hopefully become great friends like my cousins and I are.

Today I'm going to a BBQ at Little T's house. He is 4 now and an awesome little man. I will be eating, having some great conversation with family and probably playing lots of games with the kids all while holding an amazing little secret growing inside me.

The Hubby and I were planning on telling our parents today, but I had a bit of spotting late Friday night. By the middle of the night it was brown and then gone in the morning. Even though I had a strong feeling it was just from the Hubby irritating my cervix a bit that morning (I think we jumped into it a little too quickly) I still got freaked out and just want to see my babies tomorrow before we tell anyone.

  5. Cousins are the best, so happy for you. I also spotted a tiny bit when I was pregnant with my babies. It was scary but it never amounted to anything. Congrats, so happy for you!

  6. A little spotting is normal. I had it in both of my successful pregnancies. I didn't spot at all with my miscarriage until I started bleeding. Can't wait to hear about your U/S tomorrow! I'm glad you were able to enjoy your day today!

  10. What a sweet story. I recall being so naive about these things as well. I hope the spotting stays away. I, too, had spotting and some bleeding in each of my pregnancies.

Looking forward to hearing about the ultrasound!
