Lilypie Trying to Conceive Event tickers
1999 - Had crazy cycles that ranged from 10 days to 200 days and a huge cyst popped that I didn't know was there. Went to first OBGYN visit. Had and US from a very rude lady OBGYN. They could see the cyst that popped but there were no other cysts and all blood work was normal so they did nothing.

Decided I didn't care if I saw a male DR. so switched to the family OBGYN who actually delivered me. He kinda looks like Dustin Hoffman so the Hubby called him Rain Man. He put me on BCP to control my cycle and hopefully stop any more cysts.

October 18, 2008 - Married the most wonderful man in the world!

September 2009 - March 2010 - Stopped BCP. Started prenatals and tracking my BBT just in case my crazy cycles returned. Cycles were long, (abt 35 days average) but regular. BBT didn't show I was ovulating every month, but I figured I just wasn't being strict enough with the time so I just kept going. The Hubby was away a bunch for business too so that didn't help with TTC.

March 2010 - Felt another huge cyst pop. Went to Rain Man thinking he would do some blood work and an US. I thought wrong. He did nothing so I said buh-bye!

April 2010 - I went to see a new highly recommended OBGYN. We just call him Monty. He is amazing. So nice and actually listens. He did an US which showed no new cysts. He did an extensive hormone workup and everything was normal. I told him about my troubles with my BBT so he told me to start using OPKs to confirm if I am ovulating or not.

May - October 2010 - Did OPKs and it seemed like I only ovulated once. We were busy with weddings, wisdom teeth, flooding and other stuff so I didn't go back to talk to Monty.

November 2010 - Went to Monty for annual and OPK talk. Told him about some possible pregnancy symptoms I was having. Pee test was BFN, but he thought I was too so drew blood. BFP, but he said other stuff was wrong (sorry don't remember what or numbers) and he thought it might be chemical. Sure enough AF came days later with cramps which I never get normally. He guessed I was about 6 weeks.

December 2010 - April 2011 - Took some mental time off. Did more OPKs. Looks like I only ovulate about once every 4-5 cycles. Went back to Monty and was referred to a RE...DR G

May 2011 - I had ALL that blood work (you guys know) and everything was normal. Had a HSG test and that was normal too. DR G suggested a clomid cycle with IUI. The Hubby had a SA and we found out it wasn't only me! Referred to a urologist.

June - July 2011 - I have to use his real name because it's too good not to. We went to see DR SEAMAN, no joking, that is the Hubby's urologist name. So...the Hubby got another SA and blood work and we had 2 options. We could go straight for IVF or the Hubby could go on clomid, check hormones every month and do another SA in 3 months. We chose the clomid.

September 2011 - 2 years TTC. The Hubby's hormones looked awesome! Adjust clomid come back next month.

October 2011 - The Hubby's hormones look awesome again! Come back next month for SA!

December 7, 2011 - Hubby went back to Dr. S for a SA and his spermies looked great! Number and quality increased a lot and he is actually in normal ranges now! We get to move on to an IUI!

December 16, 2011 - We went over the IUI plan. I was put on metformin HCL ER 750mg BID, ordered my clomid and ovidrel.

December 31, 2011 -  Had CD 3 blood work and US. Everything looks good. Start clomid 100mg for 5 days!

  4. Hi there!!! Nice to find someone else who's husband is on Clomid! Good luck on this cycle!!! We can't do IUI JUST yet...as my hub's doc wants him to have the varicocele surgery done before considering IUI...but with the clomid, his morphology went from 0% to 5% in 6 months and his motility went from 31% to 66! Course the total volume and count are still way too low. :(
Anwyways - I look forward to following your blog!

  5. Just found your blog. Hoping to follow your story. My mom has crocheted blakets for all my kiddos, including the babies we lost. The blankets hold wonderful memories for me.

  6. Hello:) Just wanted to stop by and say hello and that I would love to start following your blog. I love your Blog Name, A Blanket to Keep, and the meaning behind it. My story is a bit different (if you're interested you can check it out at infertilefirstmom.wordpress.com, but I warn you, it's a work in progress!) as all of our stories are... but when I think about my dream of having a baby, because of the baby I had and chose to make an adoption plan for when I was young, I often think of "the baby I get to keep." And my Mom and I also made a blanket before my daughter's birth to give to her (and her adoptive family) when she was born. I think about that blanket often....even though I have some contact with my daughter and her family 13 years later, I wonder if they still have it and if I'll ever get to tell her about the month that my Mom and I made it for her before she was born. I also dream of the day when I can make another blanket for my own baby... and will not even start it until I know he/she is on the way! Anyway, thanks for sharing your story and helping this new blogger and relatively new IFer find a connection "out there." Good luck to you! Kate

  8. Hey I just found your blog through another. We both have our issues also and it appears we have been trying for about the same amount of time. (I went off BCP in August 2009). Right now DH only has enough sperm for an IVF, but is getting hormone supplements in hopes of incresing the number. We hope to have a good SA here in the next couple weeks.
